Blog Post #7

A lot has happened since my last blog post! I finished up Elias's boat and created a turn table for our second production pass and began working the fiddle.
I was really proud of the work that my group presented, it felt like all our hard work after the revisions of our first production pass really paid off, and that we are set in the right direction. I especially feel that the prop and character designs have really been fleshed out to appear much more stylistic and cartoony. We seem to have a solid vision in front of us.
I have been working for a while on the fiddle, and it has been a very difficult asset for me to model. Since it is one of the main props that Elias uses, the pressure is on for me to make sure geo looks good, and the style works with the film.
I also feel that this model has really pushed me out of my comfort zone, there are a lot of tricky details on a fiddle that I didn't want to cheat, so I have been working hard and going pretty slow.
I am a little embarrassed over my pace, no one has ever made me feel pressured and my group is always there to help; I mainly feel self-conscious because of how long it takes me to troubleshoot and work around problems. A lot of the time while I am modeling, I will spend hours going down a rabbit hole, just to delete it and have to start over. I experienced this a lot already, the swirls in the body of the violin and the top of the neck have been my main focus.

I have to have a first pass of this model done by Monday to show so I have a lot of work cut out for me.
I also need to have a severed hand model ready by Monday as well. Anyways, I am proud of my fiddle; I think that the time I have put into it is reflected in some of these details and can't wait to see it when it is complete. I will also be texturing the fiddle next semester, so I am looking forward to that!
